Explore New Places

Experiencing a new environment is a great way to find inspiration. Routines can help some people, but for others doing the same thing everyday can cause a rut. It doesn't quite have to be like the picture above; it could simply be taking a different route next time you're commuting, taking a walk to a nearby park, or visiting an area you're unfamiliar with. Why not take a break on a bench and people-watch? Even just getting the fresh air can help clear your headspace.

Browse the Internet

Surfing the web is possibly one of the easiest ways to find inspiration as you don't even need to leave the house. In fact, you're doing it right now if you're reading this! There's endless content online, be it videos, pictures, writing, music or anything else that you feel inspiration from. You can us any of these as a starting point. For example you could do a drawing or painting from a reference image, or work out how to play a particular song and try to write your own in a similar style. Try checking out anything from social media sites and video platforms to blogs.

Visit Museums and Galleries

Museums and galleries are the perfect places to find inspiration, because you can study and engage with a range of masterpieces and art from both influential artists and local ones. You could try to copy what you see, put your own unique, creative twist on it, or simply read about the contexts and inspirations of the work you are seeing before you. Many museums and galleries are free to enter.

Talk to Someone

Having a conversation with new people (or even those you already know) can be a good way to see things from a new perspective. Opening you ears and trying to immerse yourself in someone else's thoughts can allow you to view things differently and potentially spark fresh ideas when being creative, be it through an interesting story or a sense of an unfamiliar emotion.

Read a Book

Books are an amazing source of inspiration. Authors' storytelling abilities can immerse us so deeply in a fictional world that we feel part of it. Try being aware of your feelings as you read, how you could tell a similar story or how you might make this world come to life in a piece of art. Even non-fiction such as autobiographies can inspire us as the author might discuss their creative process, or their thoughts and emotions in a certain situation that you haven't considered before. Coffee table books and magazines are great for visual stimulation. The library is a good place to start if you're looking for free options.

Bonus: Be Patient and Be Creative!

Be patient! Something will come if you just keep practicing your creativity. Understanding what you like, what makes you feel more and what speaks to you can help. Make notes, doodles, colours or anything you feel compelled to do when something strikes a particular chord with you. Most importantly, create whatever you like and whatever you want to see in the world.

Hopefully in trying some of these methods you'll feel inspired and ready to get creative. Leave a comment if you found our suggestions helpful, or share some of your own!
